EUAqua.Org is a 4-year project funded by the EU's Horizon Europe programme that is dedicated to transforming European organic aquaculture through innovative and sustainable breeding strategies. Our goal is to enhance the resilience, health, and environmental performance of farmed fish while meeting consumer expectations for high-quality, organic, and eco-friendly seafood. With a 12-strong consortium of leading research institutions, industry partners, and experts from across Europe, EUAqua.Org is paving the way for the future of responsible organic aquaculture.

Project team

Project kick-off meeting

The EUAqua.Org project officially started on January 1, 2025. Chaired by the Coordinator, Prof Luca Bargelloni from the University of Padova, the meeting comprised presentations from each of the Work Packages describing their objectives and activities over the duration of the project. There was also the opportunity for the related Work Packages to discuss technical strategy and approach for the coming year. During the evening of Day 1, the project team were treated to a fine meal at the famous Caffè Pedrocchi ; once famous for intellectual discussions from some of the Europe's most eminent academics over fine Italian coffee and food!.
